Michigan Adoption
Resource Exchange |
The Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) is
an information and referral service for families interested in adopting
waiting children and adoption workers looking for homes for these
children. MARE is not a placement service. It does not provide care
for waiting children and does not conduct family assessments.

MARE services include: |
MARE
web site, a comprehensive source of information on adoption and foster
care, including links to state and national resources, and featuring photo listings
of
Michigan's waiting children. |
MARE's
quarterly recruitment periodical highlighting those children on the photo
listing who have been waiting the longest for a permanent family. |
The
Family Registry allows MARE to "match" approved adoptive
Michigan
families with waiting children. Families and their case workers are
notified of these potential "matches" twice a month. |
A
free lending library of adoption-related books and videos for families and
case workers. |
The
Michigan Heart Gallery, a traveling photographic exhibit of
Michigan
's waiting children that tours the state throughout the year. For more
information about The Heart Gallery, visit www.miheart.org |
MARE's
Youth Advisory Initiative, Focus on Adoption and Leadership [FOAL],
targeted specifically for waiting children, or those who have aged out of
the system. A newsletter, web site, and Advisory Board support the mission
of FOAL: "to assist with the development of recruitment activities,
programs, and policies on adoption". |
