Employee Resource Network

The Employee Resource Network (ERN) program is designed to be offered by employers to help you and your family address personal problems, and manage the demands of home and work life. Family Services & Children's Aid employee assistance program is part of a national Employee Resource Network.

Counseling
ERN counselor are experienced in helping families and individuals with a variety of problems, such as:

stress, anxiety, depression, martial conflicts, parent and child conflicts, divorce adjustment, caring for aging parent, financial difficulties, coping with death or loss, alcohol or drug problems, single parenting concerns, work related issues, financial planning, legal problems

Confidentiality
When you seek counseling, your rights to privacy and confidentiality are protected. Both state and federal statutes prohibit anyone from disclosing information about the services you receive. Should you want us to discuss your situation with anyone - including your supervisor or family member - you must give us written permission to do so.

Warning Signs of Trauma Related Stress
Following a threat or act of violence, a natural disaster or a suicide, employees, witnesses and their families often suffer from stress related ailments, such as:

Reoccurring thoughts or nightmares about the event
Difficulty sleeping or a change in appetite
Feeling anxious or fearful especially when exposed to events or situations similar to the trauma
Being on edge, easily startled or becoming overly alert
Feeling depressed, sad, or having low energy
Memory problems
Feeling "scattered" or unable to focus at work
Feeling irritable, easily agitated, or angry and resentful
Spontaneously crying, feeling a sense of despair or hopelessness
Feeling extremely protective of, or fearful for, the safety of loved ones
Feeling emotionally "numb", withdrawn or disconnected from others
Unable to face certain aspects of the trauma & avoiding activities, places or people that remind you of the event

ERN is a full-service Employee Assistance Program (EAP) serving the Jackson and Lenawee County business community since 1990. ERN is a division of Family Service & Children's Aid which has been serving our communities' families and children for over 50 years. Organizations purchasing employee assistance programs find results in increased employee morale and productivity, reduced absenteeism and improved ability of personnel to manage problem situations.

Why does your company need ERN?
Organizations who have provided Critical Incident Stress Management Services (CISM) to their employees directly after a trauma have been shown to gain in both financial and non-financial ways compared to those that provided no assistance.

For more information about Employee Assistance Programs or Critical Incident Stress Management Services, please contact the ERN Program Director at 1-800-292-9203 or 517-787-275.
